Working as a TV presenter for Newswatch on Channel 9 IS A JOY!!! Although I hate the daily battle through traffic just to get to Broadcast City, once I’m there all powdered up for the camera, I thank God for the privelege of being part of Newswatch, the longest-running TV newscast in the Philippines!
When I auditioned and got the job early this year, it was unbelievable – I did not think that I would ever return to TV newscasting after an 8-year stint with ANC and a 5 year hiatus from TV news. (Oh no! I’m hoping you’re not doing the math!!!) But the MORE exciting thing is that, under the leadership of our new CEO Tonypet Albano, NEWSWATCH is getting a big shot of caffiene in the arm so you can expect things to be ELECTRIFYING!
The new and revitalized Newswatch airs today, Heroes Day: November 30 at 5:30pm!!!
Here are just some of the changes:
1) The new program name: RPN Newswatch.
2) The RPN Newswatch set design looks like something out of fashion week!
3) We have the lovely Reema Chanco who will dish out the Entertainment news. TRIVIA: Reema doesn’t know this, but I happen to be the voice of the CreamSilk Summer Shine TV ad that features HER and a couple other sporty grrrrls!

4) The program will no longer be a 30-minute newscast! It will be a one-hour gig starting at 5:30pm.
5) Our graphics are updated and flasheeee!
6) RPN Newswatch will now feature a segment called TeenWatch where we feature our Teen Reporters!!!
7) We will be less formal at certain points.
8) RPN Newswatch will now feature a live guest during the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night programs.
*****Basketball fans, worry not – we will continue to show your favorite games on Wednesday and Friday nights!!!
