UPDATE: May 14, 2010 – Received this text from Venus when I asked her how she felt about the passport news from the DFA:
“Super happy po ako dahil nagbunga po lahat ng efforts ko at ng mga tulong po ng sobrang daming tao. Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng tulong niyo!
I am super happy because all my efforts and all the help of so many people bore fruit. Thank you very much for all the help!“

Congratulations to Ma. Venus Raj, her family and supporters!
I just recieved news that the Department of Foreign Affairs has announced that Ma. Venus Raj’s passport is ready for pick up is being processed.
In an interview with the Inquirer, the DFA confirmed that Venus is indeed a Filipino citizen.
A DFA official was quoted as saying:
“The committee stated that on the basis of documents presented by Ms Maria Venus, it is well-established that she was born to a Filipina mother, and following the jus sanguinis rule on matters of citizenship acquisition, she is a Filipino citizen who is entitled to a Philippine passport,”
This ends once and for all, any doubt that Ma. Venus Raj will represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant.
Ma. Venus Raj was dethroned after the Bb Pilipinas organizers found inconsistencies between her birth certificate and her verbal account of her birth. After her supporters fought for reinstatement, Bb Pilipinas relented and reinstated Ma. Venus Raj on the condition that she get a Philippine passport.
Ma. Venus Raj is currently in beauty pageant training with the rest of the Bb. Pilipinas 2010 court of winners.

kasi po I am beauty queen fanatic at mahilig talaga ako
magbasa ng mga article dito sa site mo at sa iba pang site
ako din yung nag uupload ng mga pictures doon sa fanpage ng BB.Pilipinas sa facebook po.at isa din ako sa no.1 fan ni venus raj… good for her kasi po my passport na siya.kaso
nung napicturan ko po yung passport niya..ibang iba po yung itsura kasi po hindi po royal blue yung backgroud ng picture niya doon iba din po yung format ng passport niya..
at diba sa doha po siya pinanganak pero sa birth place po niya bato cam sur ang nakalagay..pero kahit ganun pa man po ay happy pa din ako kasi tuloy tuloy na po ang laban niya..
naway siya na po ang 3rd Filipina Miss universe..bye bye for now at check ko na lang po site mo sa susunod na mayroon bagong news…

HI Jeffrey! Yes, thanks for helping keep the FB site active. Alam mo, me mga araw na sobra akong busy with work and family, di ako maka-blog or FB. Buti na lang, paminsan-minsan lang yung ganung araw.
I think iba na talaga ang format ng mga bagong Phil passport. Siguro binigyan ng consideration si Venus tungkol sa birth place niya; it must be impossible to make it show she was born in Qatar without going through super-long court procedures. Eh, nagmamadali tayo diba? So, ayun, at least she has a passport na!
