SCROLL DOWN TO FIND OUT ABOUT MIRIAM QUIAMBAO’S CONNECTION TO THE REALITY SHOW “PROJECT LOTUS” AND HER DEAL WITH OLAY!
I’m thrilled that so many of our gorgeous Filipina Beauty Queens are moving on to the big wide world of acting!
A couple weeks ago I got to chat with Bb. Pilipinas World 2008 Danielle Castano who stars in the period film “Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio,” and NOW, Miriam Quiambao informs me that she’s getting ready for a role in a dramatic indy film!
This is not Miriam’s first time to do drama. TV hounds enjoyed her as Aludra, the villainess in the telenovela “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo”. Since I am NOT a TV watcher and opt to get all my entertainment from other media, I have no idea how she did. However, I can be confident that Cinema One wouldn’t ask her to star in a serious indy film if the beauty queen couldn’t act. I mean, HELLO!
In fact, Miriam Quiambao took the role of Aludra SO seriously that she would still be in character way after she left the set. But she says asking God to help her wash the ‘contrabidaness’ out of her system WORKS. Prayers also seem to be getting her more great projects!
Like the indy film I mentioned.
It’s titled “Layang Bilanggo” and it’s a story that revolves around the character of an escaped prisoner named Pol (Pen Medina) who is hired by a syndicate led by Adamos (Archi Adamos) to kill a certain journalist. Pol disguises himself and hides in a nursing home. Meantime, his estranged daughter Grace (Miriam Quiambao) somehow ends up volunteering as an art teacher at the very same nursing home where Pol is in hiding. And of course, she doesn’t recognize him because if she did then the movie would be a short film and not a full feature, LOLOL!
Anyway, Elder Jonee (Jaime Fabregas) and the others in the nursing home lend humor and are witness to the growing father-daughter relationship as Grace tries to overcome her fear of marrying her boyfriend Frank (Will DeVaughn).
Will Pol finally be able to tell his daughter Grace the truth and free himself from the past as well as his emotional, mental and physical prisons?
Abangan!
“Layang Bilanggo” starts shooting next month under the directorial eye of Michael Angelo Dagñalan who won recognition for his short feature River of Dreams in the 21st Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video last year (December 2009).
Miriam Quiambao says she is thrilled at the acting opportunities coming her way and seriously wants to pursue a career as a dramatic actress!
Well, it looks like the career is pursuing her

In other exciting Miriam Quiambao news, her partnership with Olay has been extended! She just returned from Jakarta to attend Olay’s regional launch together with all of Olay’s beauty ambassadresses in Asia. At the moment Miriam Quiambao is getting ready to leave for Bangkok where the new Olay TV commercial will be shot. I am green with ENVY! I should ask her to bring me along as CHAPERONE, lololol!
******
Meantime, Miriam is also helping out with Project Lotus, a reality show/talent search for a Pan-Asian girl band. If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 years, can sing, dance and look like a Spice Girl or Pussycat Doll, you might be interested in trying out. Miriam Quiambao says that Project Lotus is the brainchild of UK Record Producer Elliot Kennedy.
You can submit an audition video of yourself to the Project Lotus website here…
Deadline for submission is AUG 2, 2010!
