YVETTE Marie Santiago, a 17-year-old BS Accountancy student of Bicol University, will be the Philippines’ representative to the World Miss University 2010 to be held in Seoul, South Korea on August 8, 2010. This will be the 22nd edition of World Miss University.
Yvette Santiago, a statuesque beauty at 5’8″, was already a beauty titlist when she was selected by Lamberto Ricalde of Mega Star Production, local franchise-holder of World Miss University, from the files of winners of Bb. & Ginoong Pamantasan 2010 of CHED to vie for the World Miss University 2010 beauty title.
Yvette Santiago’s collection of titles includes Miss Bicol University, Bb. Pamantasan 2nd runner-up and 2009 Mutya ng Magayon 1st Princess.
A total of 59 contestants from around the world are expected to converge in Seoul for the World Miss University Pageant that was initiated in 1986 by the International Association of University Presidents in order to spread its message of peace around the world through smart and beautiful women.
Last year’s edition, also scheduled in Seoul, was canceled because of the H1N1 flu that hit many Asian countries.
No Filipina has ever made it to the winning circle of the World Miss University Pageant so Yvette Santiago is hoping to be the first. She says,
I will do my best to represent our country and be the first Filipina and Bicolana to win the coveted title!
The grand coronation night of World Miss University 2010 is scheduled at the Sheraton Walker Hill Theater in Seoul on August 8, 2010.
