Unlike last year where I was able to quickly choose my bets, I had the HARDEST time selecting my favorites in the Press Presentation of the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 beauty contestants. But I found out that if I divided my favorites according to what I liked in FACE, BODY and WALK, it made it easier than pie.
These selections, btw, are not my final ones but only my impression of the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 beauty contestants during the Press Presentation and how they looked and carried themselves on stage. My biggest disappointment though is that this batch of girls is not as tall as I’d hoped they’d be. Unfortunately, tall girls seem to get more favor in pageants; proof that life is often unfair.
Although I attended the Press Presentation and took photos, I relied heavily on the Youtube Vids of OPMB in making my choices in this particular post. The Bb. Pilipinas 2011 Press Presentation was held after lunch on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Luzon Ballroom of Sofitel, the old Philippine Plaza Hotel… and now, here are the girls whom I felt shined the most on stage! Those highlighted in RED are my major, major favorites!!!

How I wish my neighbors had Elizabeth Clenci’s lovely face. This Filipina-Australian has that perky girl-next-door look that I find refreshing. Her ponytail added much to over-all look, but I would have loved to see her tresses trailing down her shoulders.

Gianna Therese Quintos happens to be carrying a set of abs I wish were on my bod! Her legs look like a tennis player’s and just like the rest of her, carry not a whisper of fat. I wonder if this animal trainer gets her bod from chasing and lifting the dogs in her class!!!

Fierce moves combined with a friendly smile! I think Patricia Mae Tumulak is one of the few girls in Bb. Pilipinas 2011 who can be be fierce and friendly at the same time. Must be part of the wealth of experience she gained from being Miss Philippines Earth 1st Runner-up in 2009!

I can almost imagine her playing the role of a sweet provicial lass washing clothes in a batis, making tampisaw the water and singing a happy Filipino ditty…

This big-eyed Palestinian Filipina has one of the most striking faces in Bb. Pilipinas 2011! While Sabrinne Al-Tawil seemed reserved on stage, as if keeping a secret from the audience, her elegant smile shined through. I don’t know about you, but this Dentistry student reminds me of actress Nanette Medved…

#23 Luzelle Felipe (FACE) 5’7¾”
When Luzelle Felipe came out on stage, I thought, WOW, now THAT’S a Filipina beauty! She was one of the very few contestants that did not come across as flirtatious and instead had this regal quality to her moves and smile. How this tricycle driver was transformed into a delicate beauty is still beyond me, but I approve 100%!

Isabella Majon was one of best walkers in this group of Bb. Pilipinas contestants. She’s like a human slinky, I swear! This varsity swimmer also has a huge presence on stage with her striking face and exotic widow’s peak.

When I first saw photos and videos of the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 candidates, Shamcey Supsup was my main choice for the Universe title. And in the Press Presentation, she entered the stage like a winner. While her figure is slight, Shamcey Supsup has lovely proportions!

The temperature in the Luzon Ballroom of Sofitel went up a couple notches when Ma. Paula Bianca Paz stepped out on stage. This busty beauty sashayed on stage like she was on Boracay. White sparkly teeth in a sultry smile perfected her look. This is Ma. Paula Bianca Paz’s 2nd time to go for one of the Bb. Pilipinas crowns; she was a contestant in 2009, the year Bianca Manalo won.

This is not Krystle Ann Grant’s first time to do battle in a beauty pageant. She has proven herself a winner after placing 1st Runner-up in Miss Philippines Earth 2007. What I love best about this Pinay from California are her eyes which are ever so slightly turned down at the corners.

Kathleen Subijano has the face of someone I wouldn’t mind seeing everyday on TV. I could almost picture her as a morning show host, waking up the world with her bright smile! Oh, and Miss Baton Twirler, it was smart of you to iron your hair flat – seeing long curly tresses on every contestant can get quite tiring…

I first noticed Camille Alexis Baltazar when she sang at the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 talent show at Ali Mall and thought she was the cutest thing I saw on stage that day. But she dropped the cute in the Press Presenation and brought out the wooo-man!

The Grand Coronation Night of the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 will be on April 10, 2011 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Great early picks Joyce! Without a doubt this year’s Bb batch is one of the more beautiful ones in the last decade or so. BPCI Executive Committee and the judges will have a hard time deiblirating who gets to win the two major Bb croanws – Universe and International and the minor one that is Bb. Pilipinas Tourism.

All the candidates are beautiful and competitive this year — the judges sure have their work cut out for them. However, if I were to pick just ONE candidate (and I started with ten favorites), it will have to be (drum roll please…)
#16 Sabrinne Al-Tawil
She just stands out for many reasons. On top of being gorgeous and TALL (5’8″), she also has great interview skills (from what I’ve seen of her in youtube). She also has represented the Philippines in an international pageant (2010 Miss Friendship International) so her past experience is a tremendous asset. As for my nine other choices, well, you already have them listed above (and yes, including that strikingly beautiful tricycle driver).

Actually Sabrinne is in my final list but I just haven’t made the complete list yet. This particular post is more about who I thought stood out during the press presentation. I find myself having a hard time selecting my top choices this year. But nevertheless am very excited for April 10!

I have to agree with you- most of the pretty ones this year are petite by international standard. I mean Venus is 5’9 and Krista is 5’10 while Czarina (at least on record ) is 5’10.5
– if want an advantage right away- height is always an important factor. One time I remember Osmel (of Ms Venezuela) mentioned, in one of his interviews, that he only cares about the height- “everything else can be altered”- that’s very powerful specially coming from a man who produced so many grandslam winners in pageant history. So its a shame that Patricia is 5’5- well I will still put her in my list because after all- Precious Lara is just 5’5 and she won Ms I.
Anyway- I have a question for you… I know that in Ms U or Ms World and even Ms Earth- the judges choose the girl that fits the stats of a particular criteria. Most likely, you want to find the girl who is most prepared- who is actually the best in the competition…..at least in the over-all aspect. However, in a pageant like Bb Pilipinas- do you think the judges should prioritize the “potential” over what they actually see on stage or during the judging process? —– For example, Gloria Diaz was very vocal on her support to Melanie Marquez because she has all the potential (although she stumbled in the Q&A)…. and she was right- Melanie became a big name in the pageant and modelling world— on the contrary Ms Carla Balangit performed extremely well in the Bb Pilipinas competition which was the reason why she won Bb Pilipinas Universe over the other girls with, should I say, better potentials (Im sorry- this is not to take away anything from Carla who represented our country extremely well in Panama)…..
Well- it could also be the case that the girl with the most potential is also the same girl who is the best and the most prepared during the competition- like Venus Raj (lots of experience) Desiree V (former runner-up), Ruffa G (model and actress), and You-Ms Joyce (also with another national title before the Bb)…..But if this is not the case-at least in your personal opinion- would you choose a raw beauty that can be transformed in a world class beauty queen over a more prepared girl?
I ask this because this year- the girls who look most prepared/gorgeous are not necessarily the girls with the biggest potential
At least for me……….. Patricia and MJ are goddesses at the peak of their beauty while Luzelle and even Supsup are raw beauties with great great potentials…

Ms. Joyce, this is my first time to post comments regarding Bb. Pilipinas contestants this year. As a foreigner, I enjoy the different types of beauties from different countries. If I must say, the women of the philippines is probably one of the most beautiful in the entire world. They are very eye catching, not like in Latin countries that are product of cosmetic surgeries. There were three contestant that really caught my eyes. These three are Isabella Manjon, Sabrine Al-Tawil and Queenrich Rehman. I know that Filipinos like to hyped their beauty queens like Tumulak, Necio, and Lastimosa. I’m not against them, but to me they are not the kind of beauties that will do well in the international pageant specially in Ms. Universe. This is Trump era right now, and he like his girls to be beautiful, and also tall and, has that international appeal. Ms. Manjon, Al-Tawil and Rehman are all stunning beauties. These are the kind of beauties that the Philippines should sent abroad if they want to be notice. It’s a shame that the Philippines always send the wrong girls to Ms. universe.
