It’s a big celebration for Adventures of a Beauty Queen because today my blog reached it’s 1 Millionth View thanks to Shamcey Supsup’s amazing 3rd Runner-up victory in the the Miss Universe 2011 beauty pageant. As of press time, I have garnered over 39 thousand views for the day, surpassing my last record of around 36,000 views on the day Venus Raj won 4th Runner-up last year.
ABQ has gone quite far since it’s first post in January 2009 – that was about my first trip to Thailand. That month has checked in with 63 views so far for something like four posts! So, ABQ has gone a long way. My other highlights include ABQ being quoted in publications like the Philippine Daily Inquirer and a TV guesting recently on Balitang 60 of TV5 to talk about Miss Universe 2011 and Shamcey Supsup.
I’d like to thank the following:
Pastor Chuck Quinley for making the staff of The Edge (I’m a volunteer) go viral and making me see the value of being connected online. Visit his site here!
Caren Bayhon for inspiring me thru her great cooking blog “The Eating Room” – I was so envious of her blog that without thinking I opened my Adventures of a Beauty Queen… LOLOL! Thanks friend, I love you!
Owie Burns who patiently taught me the inner workings of Facebook, Multiply, etc… and how to upload photos! Here is her blog!
Ganns Deen who suggested WordPress and continues to give me occasional advice. He was one of the very first bloggers in the Philippines and perhaps the very first Christian Pinoy Blogger! Visit his blog here…
Ron Titular my husband who patiently comes along to all the beauty pageants I watch. He is often my photographer, driver, bag-holder, advice-giver and more importantly – BEST FRIEND! He’s got a blog too, but it isn’t updated because he spends so much time in the ministry project The Edge Radio. I love you because you are my handsome!
And most specially to Jomar Hilario who taught me the secrets of how to successfully get as many views as possible. Visit his site here and if you can catch one of his seminars on Online Marketing, you HAVE to attend it!
To Renee Salud, thanks for being my Mama! You are SO responsible for my beauty queen journey, thanks for sponsoring me, dressing me up and giving me opportunities to model. I will always love you!
Mom, because of you I am enjoying the life of a former Bb. Pilipinas beauty queen in the Philippines today. You pushed me hard and although I hated it then, I am SO grateful for it today. I thank God that you fought for me tooth and nail in the best way you thought possible. I love you!
Lord God, all my successes I owe to you. Every good thing that is in me is there because of you so I cannot brag or boast that I did it on my own. I am more beautiful today than I ever was because you taught me all about Grace and Forgiveness. May I always reflect your beauty in everything I do and in everything I say in this Blog. And if ever I stray, I pray that you bring me back onto the narrow path. Jesus, you are my First Love!

Dearest Joyce, you are such a beautiful woman inside and out. Your graciousness and humility shines through you, just like the love of the God we serve. I am humbled by your mentioning of me, and pray nothing but the best for you and your blog in the years to come. God superbless you!
Congratulations Miss Joyce! You’re one awesome woman

May God continuously bless you that you may continuously be a blessing to others too
Kudos!
I was blessed last night to learn new things about blogging from Ganns Deen during the Christian Bloggers Fellowship in Mandaluyong…blogging is such a wonderful thing to do, and I might say that I’m continuously learning and striving for it, apart from following your blog for quite some time now…Now, I might say that I’m more inspired to blog than ever before. Thanks Ms.Joyce!!!
dear ms joyce,
i always check on your blog especially during pageant season because you have credibility and your passion for pageants is so endearing PLUS your humility to accept corrections, suggestions and criticism
More power
While I enjoy pageants, its not quite my passion, hehehe… Its the beauty that God has put in women. That’s what I’m passionate about… Thanks for, dropping by my blog!
i’m one of your biggest fans from Bohol…don’t worry, I am not a stalker LOL ..hoping to invite you to judge one of our pageants here
Hoy, when will you invite me! LOLOL! I want to see Bohol and hang out with Tarsiers!!! Thanks for visiting my blog and saying nice things here… mwah!

i would understand if you won’t
Hi cool brew
I am a US Citizen… unfortunately I don’t qualify for Dual Citizenship even if my Mom is Pinay and I was born in Cavite. I tried applying but di daw pwede. Anyway, the PHilippines is my home and the chance to go to the Miss U in 1985 was and is a great honor inspite of the scandal surrounding my citizenship – that scandal I consider to be a battle-scar that will just never go away
Then there was the scandal surrounding my age in 1981 when I joined Miss Young Philippines… WHEW! I did lead an exciting and scandalous life in the day, didn’t I? Well, things have changed for me and I now avoid scandals LIKE THE PLAGUE!
you would always be one of my favorite Binibinis..Very elegant and kikay at the same time…You would always have the distinction of being the first Filipina to represent the Philippines in two prestigious international pageants and showcasing the best of the Filipina in the world arena!
will send you the invite sooner than you think…our white sandy beaches are splendid and you can feel the rustic charm of Bohol…
Thanks much cool brew….. You are so kind to me, God bless your heart!!!!! Very excited to see Bohol I hope my crazy sched is free…..
