Congratulations to the City of Cabuyao for a wonderfully produced beauty pageant – the Mutya ng Cabuyao 2013!
The lovely contestant who won the Top Title was contestant#14 Khryzzel Medialdia who came out, during the Long Gown Competition in a straightforward borrowing of Olivia Culpo’s styling when she won Miss Universe 2012.
IMHO, the tactic gave Khryzzel an edge over the other five finalists because it was an improvement on the original look and the ‘Olivia Culpo Ball Gown styling” has become iconic, specially among pageant fans like me. While I normally frown on copy cats, I don’t mind it if the copy is a great improvement on the ‘original’. So congratulations on the bold move to copy and improve.
Honestly, I had a hard time judging because there were about 6 or 7 girls that stood out among the the batch of 16 contestants. But with the help of my co-judges, we were able to make a choice. The panel included me, Mama Renee Salud (chairman), Chuckie Chavez of TV5, Vanessa Amman 2nd Princess Miss World Philippines 2012, actor Paolo Paraiso, Roan Aguilar Miss Asean 2012 1st RU, and actress/model Lou Sison.

Hahaha! I can’t believe they copied it sooo boldy … but honestly that look stands out so now I know why USA got the nod of the judges
