You don’t need to walk on stilettos to become a Beauty Queen!! This here’s a contest for women who have lower half challenges but have maximized the rest of themselves. Here’s how the organizers of Ms Wheelchair America describe the contest:
Unlike other pageants, Ms. Wheelchair is not at all a beauty pageant. Contestants are judged on their accomplishments, communication skills, self-perception and projection. These criteria are showcased in personal interviews, platform speeches and onstage interviews. The title is awarded to the most articulate spokeswoman for people with disabilities.
Contestants for Ms Wheelchair America must be US Citizens between ages 21 and 60 and wheelchair bound 100% of the time. Marital status doesn’t matter one WHIT! 26 US States paticipate in the program and the winner gets to travel around America to talk about their platform and other disability-related issues.
Although the Ms Wheelchair America refuses to call itself a BEAUTY PAGEANT…
I MUST INSIST, it is ONE BEAUTIFUL PAGEANT!!!
