Miss Romania Universe 2010, Oana Paveluc
A stroke of luck for Oana Paveluc!
She wasn’t the original winner of the Miss Universe Romania 2010 title. It was Alexandra Catalina Filip, but Alexandra chose her career as a competitive dancer above the duties of being Miss Romania Universe. Alexandra is a national champion and needed to prepare for a major dance competition in South Korea in August. So stepped down and her 1st Runner-up Oana Paveluc is now representing Romania in the Miss Universe 2010!
This is how Oana Paveluc reacted to the sudden change in plans:
“I couldn’t believe that the final results have changed. I was extremely happy even with the 1st runner-up title and the Media Award, because Miss Universe Romania is the most important beauty competition in the whole country. Now, as the situation has changed completely, it is as if I am living a dream. I hope I can get my thoughts together as soon as possible and start preparing for the big show in Las Vegas. I am extremely happy! The first thing that I did after hugging Alexandra Catalina Filip was to offer her the prizes given by the Miss Universe Romania Organization.”
Oana Paveluc’s hometown is Brasov and she is in her last year of high school at Remus Radulet Technical High School. She has finished several acting courses and, aside from becoming an actress, dreams of putting up her own business one day.
This 5’11½” giantessa is a volunteer of the AS Association and a project called “Another Way of Being” which supports autistic children. But Oana Paveluc is no fakey-fakey volunteer – she has been involved in these projects since her younger brother was born with autism.
And now, as Miss Universe Romania 2010, Oana Paveluc is the Ambassador of Goodwill for the Blue Heron Foundation – a charity that began in Los Angeles in 2002 and has raised more that half a million dollars for orpahaned and abandoned children in Romania.
After a one month of beauty queen training in Romania, Oana Paveluc flew to the New York for a few days before arriving in Las Vegas, the city host of the Miss Universe 2010 Beauty Pageant!
