Miss Belgium, Cilou Annys
Cilou Annys is the 80th lady to carry the Miss Belgium title. She is only 18 years old and is studying to be a French and Spanish translator at the Hogeschool Gent in Ghent. Her other title is Miss West Flanders.
Cilou got into a controversy when she posed for the cover of a magazine. She was standing on the Belgian flag with Flemish Nationalist Bart de Wever about to cut her Miss Belgium sash.
Bart de Wever is a known ‘separatist’ – Belgium is divided between Flemish and French-speaking groups. Cilou happens to be Flemish.

Cilou Annys ended up apologizing for the cover saying that she only meant to show who resides on Belgian territory by standing on the flag. Click here to read more about it.
