Miss Guatemala, Jessica Scheel
Jessica Scheel (who won Miss Guatemala International 2010) replaces Alejandra Barillas as Miss Guatemala Universe 2010. The original story I heard was that Alejandra Barillas busted a foot and the injury was so serious that they had to send a different girl.
But then there’s another story – more like an intrigue – that something fishy is going on because Alejandra has no such injury. I am waiting for a response from Alejandra to verify this.
Okay, here’s Alejandra’s response: Yes that’s sadly true =( a week before leaving I sprained my ankle and put my leg in a plaster cast. I have to wait like around 6 weeks so I can get back to my daily routine and continue with my career. God knows why and Im just praying to get better soon.
Then… there’s this newer story from the online pageant community that the change was due to differences between Alejandra Barillas and organizers of Miss Guatemala.
Whatever the case, Guatemala has a strong and proven candidate in Jessica Scheel. This 5’7″ living doll is a professional model, a TV host and has TONS of beauty pageant experience:
- She attended the International Petroleum Queen 2009 beauty contest where she won the Best Face award.
- She was Miss Earth Guatemala 2007 and represented her nation in the Miss Earth beauty contest that year.
- She participated in Super Model 2007.
- Jessica Scheel also competed in the 2008 Miss Caraibes Hibiscus in St. Martin.
- And she won Miss Teen Guatemala in 2006.
But Jessica Sheel is not putting all her faith in her experience. She is bringing along a lucky charm to the Miss Universe 2010: a medal of San Francisco that she always brings wherever she goes.
As Jessica Scheel vies for the Miss Universe 2010 title, this is what she hopes to achieve:
“Bringing good news to Guatemala, to do everything in my power to fight for that crown and of course, enjoy all that God has given me throughout the competition”
