Miss KAZAKHSTAN, Assel Kuchukova

Will this year’s Miss Kazakhstan be able to fly to the Miss Universe beauty pageant? If Assel Kuchokova can then she will be the 4th Kazakh woman to attend the greatest pageant on the planet. She would have been fifth if last year’s winner Olga Nikitina did not withdraw due to lack of funds.

While Kazakhstan may be one of the youngest Miss Universe countries and might seem way behind in the beauty and fashion industry, the 9th largest nation in the world (by area) boasts of the first and largest space rocket launch site which is found in the town of Baikonur.

Now if my math is right, Assel Kuchukova barely made it into the age requirement for Miss Universe. According to the rules, Miss Universe contestants must be at least 18 years of age and under 27 years by February 1st in the year they compete in the national competition.

Assel Kuchokova’s birthday is April 7, 1983 so that would make her 27 right now and therefore over-aged. However, if we follow the rule mentioned above, her age by February 1st, 2010 (the year she competed in Miss Kazakhstan) would be 26. So Assel Kuchokova qualified by a thin margin of 2 months!

So as of now, the 5’9″ statuesque beauty is the oldest Miss Universe candidate in Batch 2010!!!

Assel Kuchokova’s national pageant was held in the capital city of Almaty which means “Place Full of Apples.” And she was the loveliest apple chosen out of 36 candidates on June 13, 2010. The girls who made it into Assel Kuchokova’s court of beauty are much younger than her – 1st Runner-up Karina Medvedchikova is 19, 2nd Runner-up Kamilla Shumskaia is 20 and 3rd Runner-up Alfia Habibulina is 20. I guess that TRULY makes her a QUEEN among princesses!!

Let’s hope Assel Kuchokova can make it to Las Vegas this August to represent all of us who feel like we’re on the last train in. LOL!
