When Scharlette Allen Moses won Miss Nicaragua Universe 2010, she made it into Nicaraguan history by being the first ever black beauty to do so. Her most unforgettable moment in the pageant was when her family and members of the audience all stood up to clap and shout for her when she was announced the winner of the beauty pageant.
In addition to the Miss Nicaragua Universe 2010 crown, Scharlette Allen Moses also won the Avon Face award.
On the night of her coronation, she said:
“I will not be Scharllete Allen from Bluefields; from today I’ll be Miss Nicaragua!”
But Miss Nicaragua is not the only beauty pageant she has competed in. According to the 5’11″ profssional model, she won the Miss Moravo 2006 in her hometown of Bluefields, Miss Costa Caribe 2008 and Miss Autonomia 2009.
It is not surprising that this tall, well-muscled beauty queen loves playing basketball and enjoys dancing; just look at her arms in the photo!
Her favorite food is Rondon, a traditional Nicaraguan dish from her hometown. Rondon is prepared with turtle meat or fish or red meat or pork. Sometimes they combine two of these meats. It is cooked with hot pepper, an herb named nargan, onion, sweet pepper, banana, yucca and something like taro called quequisque.
Scharlette Allen Moses is currently a student at Bluefields Indian and Carribean University. She speaks both Spanish and English.
