Miss Paraguay Johana Benitez is bringing something extra-special to Las Vegas – her HARP!
The 5’9″ dark Paraguayan reina de belleza is a professional harpist and has been playing the angelic instrument since she was a child. Johana Benitez has a repretoire of songs prepared in case she gets a chance to show her talent to Donald Trump et al. at the Miss Universe 2010.
Playing the harp is not the only notable thing about Johana Benitez. This musical beauty queen is studying to be a lawyer and is in her final year at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion.
While her fingers belong to her harp and her brains to her law studies, Johana Benitez’ heart belongs to Atty. Victor Ayala. If I am not mistaken, the two are affianced but I have no idea how soon the the wedding will be. I guess it all depends on what happens at the Miss Universe 2010.
I’m sure Johana Benitez will be very relieved to fly to Las Vegas with her harp and leave the controversy of her victory behind: it was a closely contested fight between her and Egni Ekhart who won the Miss Paraguay World title. Although Miss World is a major beauty title, in Paraguay the Miss Universe is still the top crown. Many pageant fans were counting on Egni to win the Universe sash and Johana to get the World but the titles fell the other way around. The controversy grew hotter when Egni admitted in an interview that she was disappointed to not have won Universe.
But it’s not Johana Benitez’ fault she won. The judges made their choices and that’s that. And in Europe, many countries consider Miss World to be bigger than the Miss Universe so Egni Ekhart has much to be happy about.
The best of luck to Johana Benitez at the Miss Universe 2010. Who knows? She might just be the first Miss Paraguay to win the elusive Miss U title!!!
