Miss Thailand Universe, Fonthip Watcharatrakul

Miss Thailand Universe 2010 Fonthip Watcharatrakul is an Assumptionista pala!!! She is studying Law (she’s in her first year and is following in the footsteps of her Dad who’s a lawyer) at the Assumption University in THAILAND. It happens to be the first international university in the nation and is led by the Brothers of St. Gabriel, a secular Catholic order.

Her actual title is Miss Thailand Universe 2553 not because she’s from the future but because Thailand has it’s own way of counting time using the Buddhist era which is like 543 years more than our calendar.

Aside from Miss Thailand Universe, Fonthip also won the Media Darling award which is like Miss Photogenic for us.

Anywhoo, Fonthip Watcharatrakul is just as cute as her nickname Puk Luk (or Pook Look which I think means Looking Glass or Fat Cheeks {iw}, I’m not quite too sure, does anyone know?).  She was born and raised in Bang Bo in the province of Samut Prakan which is very near Bangkok.

While becoming Miss Thailand Universe is one of the biggest dreams for many Thai girls, Puk Luk says her highest ambition is to become the first woman Prime Minister of Thailand and to work toward improving the rights of women in her country. Well, she seems to be on the right track since she is taking up law. Being Miss Thailand gives Puk Luk an edge because IMHO, a little fame won’t hurt a career in politics.

Fonthip Watcharatrakul is also an animal lover – she reportedly donated part of her prize money to a foundation that takes care of stray dogs. Ooooo… this is a weakness of mine so I’m loving Miss Thailand Universe 2553!!!

Oh, Fonthip Watcharatrakul has another beauty title – she previously won Miss Photo Fair 2009. Make that Miss Photo Fair 2552, LOLOLOL!
