Miss Venezuela, Marelisa Gibson
Oh noes!
Looking at all of Marelisa Gibson’s pictures is worrisome. She might just bring Venezuela it’s THIRD Miss Universe crown in a row and it’s SEVENTH in toto. I’m sure this would elate my darling Venezuelan friends and her fans but upset the rest of the world, hahaha! If she does win, I will have to split myself in two again: one half rejoicing for Marelisa Gibson and Venezuela, the other crying with the Philippines and the rest of the world.
Well, we will see on August 23, 2010 if Venezuela will reap the Universe once again.
In the meantime, let’s get to know Marelisa Gibson a little better.
Looks like the 5’10″ Latina beauty queen was whipped to near perfection by Venezuelan ‘Czer of Beauty’ Osmel Sousa – she’s mastered the art of toothy smiling, the kind that reminds me of Wonder Woman. And she is trained to deal with questions. During the Q&A of Miss Venezuela 2009 she was the most confident answer-giver who said her social work as a beauty queen would be to try to help reduce violence to children. In order to do this she would use sports as a positive channel.
Aside from winning the main title of Miss Venezuela 2009, Marlisa Gibson also won the Best Face award and the Best Dressed honor.
Marelisa’s non-Venezuelan sounding last name Gibson is from the Swedish-immigrant side of her family. (Gibson sounds Aussie to me… haha!) She is an Architecture student at the Central University of Venezuela and her favorite world-renowned architects include French Swiss artist Le Corbusier, the Spanish scupltor Santiago Calatrava, the German-American designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Italian Renzo Piano – all of whom are known for their modern architectural designs.
Her hobbies include theater and photography. Marelisa Gibson is also trilingual – she speaks Spanish (of course) and English as well as French, a language she learned when she was living in Paris in her late teens. She admits that if she had time, she’d study Italian.
I suggest she hang out with Miss Italy in Las Vegas…
