Thanks for picking Lateesha Ector (CANADA) as one of your Top 18. It’s truly an honour coming from you. BTW, I am a fan!

Lateesha was SO warm when I first met her. She wasn’t exactly in a position to be friendly, you know – she was having her hair done – so I really enjoyed the candid moment. You have a wonderful candidate who is not only beautiful but also gracious!
I ahppen to be supporting another Canadian Beauty Queen – Chanel Beckenlehner who just flew off to represent your nation in the Miss International pageant in China.
The best of luck to you and your lovely ladies

Hi Rodel, salamat for your comment ha! Yes, hope to meet you too one day
Meeting you on Facebook was really great. I know it is lonely when you are an OFW and Facebook helps you stay connected to other Filipinos. So nice to be friends with you!
Hi Ms. Joyce,
It was kind of shocking and sad knowing someone (if only from afar ) commit suicide. Your story however (about your struggles) is very inspiring. I am taught early in life that committing suicide is a sin and I have always thought that there is always hope and that suicide is not an option.
Good luck and hope to read more of your posts.
Rica
P.S.
It was nice knowing you in the workshop. Now I’m a fan
Hey Rica, nice meeting you too at Jomar’s workshop! Thanks too for leaving a comment…
Hi, Joyce!
Just wondering cause I was shocked to hear that the national costume of Venus Raj is not designed by a Filipino. Sad to hear that. Walang bang confidence ang BPCI sa mga Pinoy designers? Hmmmmmm
HENN “Prince”
Yes, it was designed by a Colombian. Just like you I believe that Filipinos should be designing the wardrobe of our candidates… esp. the National Costume.
ms. joyce,

Hi Joyce. Well, we have 3 Filipina champions but not really obtained their highest crowns: Shamcey Supsup, 3rd runner-up of Ms. Universe; Gwen Ruias, 1st runner-up of Ms. World; and Athena Imperial, Ms. Earth – Water 2011! Let’s make proud Filipinos to win not just in the Philippines but around the globe. God bless you.
Thanks Chester
God bless you, hope it’s not too cold in Canada!
It’s SO cold here in Canada, Joyce. It’s -8°C here in Scarborough, Canada.
By the way, do you remember the late singer, Rodel Naval? Rodel Naval was an actor in the Philippines in the late 70s or early 80s. He died in 1995 due to the rumor issue of AIDS. I missed his songs and suave voice.
A blessed new year, my dear friend.
Hi Chester! Hoping you are enjoying the cold! I am not familiar with Rodel Naval… why do you mention him? Happy New Year to you too!!!

Hi Joyce,
Did you hear about the recent passing of Eva Ekvall Miss Venezuela 2001 from breast cancer in Houston? So sad she was only 28 yrs old and was married with a 2yr old daughter. May she rest in peace.
Yes, i heard about it! And I am still stunned
I haven’t had the time to react on my blog but thanks SO much for mentioning her. Most terrible. Makes me miss Rio and Chat all the more. ANd Josephine Bautista… I really should post a blog on Eva… when I’m not so crazy…
Hi Joyce,
I know, it’s so sad. May I suggest an article of all former beauties who passed but will always be remembered. Only when you have time.
May I also mention that in 1985, I went to a Santa Cruzan in Malabon and you Ms. Burton were the Reyna Elena, if I’m not mistaken you were wearing a gorgeous light blue Maria Clara gown, and I was in total awe of how tall, skinny and gorgeous you were. I at that time was nineteen years old, and always dreamed of being a Binibini Pilipinas, (universe of course!) yet moved to the USA in 1986 ( even if didn’t move there was no possible chance, not pretty or tall enough to win). A close friend of mine, and classmate became Bb. Pilipinas Maja 1987 Lilu Jimenez. She was a sweetheart, kind, humble and beautiful from the inside and out.
I still remember the 1985 Bb Pilipinas Pageant, and you were definitely the hands down winner! Gorgeous, tall and well spoken. Definitely a beauty queen with no question!
hi joyce ! please allow me to voice and share my observations and thoughts
about mutya ng pilipinas beauty pageant…we are all wondering why the mutya pageants reception is lackluster. i cannot even comprehend why mutya cannot come even close to binibining pilipinas pageant…is it the organizers shortcomings not having a definite purpose?…it is simply not working ! even
the airing was delayed way too long that it had lost whatever interest the public has…maybe because mutya had lost its purpose…not knowing which and what international pageant its winners will compete…relying on foreign born pinays who do not have the heart to really represent the true filipino sentiments… making excuses after getting the crown that they have to back to the country where they live to do this and that…finish..attend or whatever they had to do…there are a lot of beautiful filipinas with brown skin , beautiful and intelligent too who could fully represent the philippines…
Veronica, I feel the same way and I am hoping that things get better. It all really boils down to leadership and the top tier team that is putting it together. Mutya ng Pilipinas was once a glorious presentation and I am hoping that it will return to that in the coming years. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this matter, many pageant fans feel the way we do. But I continue to support Mutya, thru thick and thin because of the lovely girls that join the pageant. They deserve our support, even the foreign born Pinays, although I would be happier if they truly committed to the crown and lived in the PHilippines during their reign. Oh well… let’s keep praying that change for the better is around the corner…
