ABQ Stands by Miriam Quiambao in the Twitter Issue!
I had the honor today of guesting with beauty queen Miriam Quiambao and Blogger Ganns Deen on a panel on Social Media at the KKB Movement’s Youth Summit at Araneta Coliseum.
During our time together she talked to us about the recent Twitter brouhaha she figured in. And here are my thoughts on the matter:
When I heard about the uproar, I was in Thailand with the hubby. I read about it on Facebook and news sites. And the first thing I told Ron was – gee, Miriam was just misunderstood. And maybe she used some tough words. But from what I’ve seen from Miriam Quiambao, there’s NOT a single bone of hate in her.
This is a bit of a confession but a couple years ago when I was battling alcoholism I desperately texted my Christian friends and acquaintances to ask for prayer. Miriam was one of them. We weren’t close at all, but she accepted and agreed to be my prayer partner for the day. (I had scheduled 30 friends for each day of the month. Blogger Ganns Deen was one of them, FYI.)
A week after my prayer day with Miriam, I had severe withdrawal type symptoms and cravings. I texted her for prayer. What happened next, I couldn’t believe, because she quickly called me and spent more than half an hour praying with me on my cell phone. She practically smothered me with love and assurance that I can be victorious over addiction to liquor.
And as I said, we weren’t really that close. Of course, that call she made when I was at a low point has changed that. I can now say Miriam Quiambao is a friend I can run to who will not judge me for my sins but who will stand with me in faith.
So, today, I declare that I stand in faith with Miriam Quiambao, and continue to believe that she is filled with kindness, mercy, humility and love.
Miriam I thank you for that phone call. You don’t know how much it meant to me, that in the middle of your busy schedule, you would listen to my cry for help.
Miriam Quiambao are my Miss Universe forever!
