A New Pageant is Born – Miss Tourism World Philippines!
Adventures of a Beauty Queen was witness to the birth of a new Philippine beauty pageant this October 2012!
The new pageant presented it’s very first batch of contestants at the Rembrandt Hotel in Quezon City last Tuesday, Oct 16, 2012. Thirty gorgeous Filipinas from different parts of the nation paraded in their swimsuits in the hope of becoming the first winner of the Miss Tourism World Philippines!
I know that it seems like pageants are mushrooming all over town but there really is no wonder: after the consecutive successes of Venus Raj (4th Runner-up Miss Universe 2011) and Shamcey Supsup (3rd Runner-up Miss Universe 2012) AND the string of Filipinas who have placed as finalists or runners-up in minor international pageants over the past two years, the Philippines has regained it’s foothold in the supremacy of developing pageant winners.
So while I welcome the arrival of this latest pageant I also challenge it’s organizers to:
– really stick to the pageant’s goals (see paragraph below)
– truly promote tourism
– offer substantial prizes
– uphold fairness
– put values before business
– make the pageant as classy as possible
– train the winner to win abroad
– and make sure the winning court of beauties have a one-year-reign of exciting activities!
So, what makes this pageant different from others? The Miss Tourism World Philippines organizers say it will not only focus on beauty, talent and fitness but also on global culture, art, tradition and peace (you can’t leave THAT out of a pageant). And more exciting to the average pageant fan than all that is the chance for our winner to represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism World international pageant which will be held in Thailand.
Congratulations to Francisco “Gareth” Blanco Jr. the National Director of Miss Tourism World Philippines for a successful pageant launch and press presentation! Adventures of a Beauty Queen wishes you and your team the best!
