Christi Lynn and Nancy Lee – ABQ’s Dark Horse Duo in Bb. Pilipinas 2015
Every year in Bb. Pilipinas there will be beauties that are like sharks: they come from the deep and snatch the crown off your very head! This is not to say that they are mean girls. I’m just saying that they have the potential to outshine and outdo those who seem poised to win.
My two dark horse sharks in Bb. Pilipinas batch 2015 are Christi Lynn McGarry and Nancy Lee Leonard.
Christi Lynn McGarry:
Why I Think She is Crown-Worthy
The desire to win pulsates through this Fil-American beauty. A born competitor, I first saw her win in Mutya ng Pilipinas (click to read my feature on her). She went by the name Ashley McGarry then. While she is not the traditional beauty you find in a pageant, she does have chameleon-like qualities that will make her shine in a competition for models like Miss Supranational.
It is important to note that McGarry would most likely not be eligible to win the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental title since she has already competed in that international pageant and even entered the Top 15 and was declared Queen of Asia and Oceania. That was in 2010. Out of the remaining 4 Bb. titles, I can see a perfect fit with Supranational.
She is stunning on stage, ravishing in a bikini, as tall as a skyscraper, quixotic in photos, and quite smart. I enjoyed her Bb. Pilipinas web interview and was pleasantly surprised when she sang beautifully in it. If she does win the Supranational title, I see a huge chance of the Philippines reclaiming the Supra crown this year.
Nancy Lee Leonard:
Why I Think She Is Crown-Worthy
Nancy Lee Leonard made no real impact on me the first time I saw her two years ago representing Zamboanga at Miss Earth 2013 because she was such a pageant virgin then. Neneng-nene. She wasn’t even on my list of favorites for the semi-finals.
But that quickly changed during the opening number of MPE 2013’s coronation night. I was taken aback by her stunning smile. I knew right then and there that Nancy Lee Leonard was no ordinary candidate. In a last minute move, I included her in my list of favorites for MPE 2013 and she ended up winning one of the elemental titles!
Later, in the victory party of MPE 2013 I had the chance to chat with her and I was pleased to see that up close, she was just as stunningly pretty. But she needed a bit more experience to fill out her persona. And it seems like she’s worked hard the past two years as a model and has indeed leveled up.
Apart from her brilliant smile, what I really like about Nancy is her Latina vibe. I think she would make a fabulous representative to Miss Intercontinental.
